FTP
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is an Internet protocol for the transfer of files.
To gain access to the remote computer, you normally have to supply a login name and password, after which you are given access to the computer's file directory system allowing you to send (upload) and receive (download) files.
Advanced Network Monitor allows you to check FTP servers for availability. To do this you need to enter the following parameters: a FTP host name, user name and password. The FTP host name may be a domain name, URL or IP address. If you enter an IP address Advanced Network Monitor will try to resolve it.
If the FTP server is not accessible directly you need to set the parameters for a proxy server (a proxy server name, user name and password).
For checking Advanced Network Monitor will try to establish a connection with the server you specified. After the connection is established the program will try to login to the FTP server with the credentials you entered. Then ANM will try to retrieve the FTP root folder files and folders list sending the LIST command.
