POP3
POP3 is an internet mail protocol used to retrieve messages stored on an Internet/intranet e-mail server.
Advanced Network Monitor allows you to monitor POP3 mail servers.
You need to enter the following parameters:
Server address - Address of the POP3 server. It may be a domain name, URL or IP address. If you enter an IP address Advanced Network Monitor will try to resolve it.
Port - Port of the POP3 server. The default TCP/IP port for the POP3 protocol is port 110.
If the POP3 server requires authentication you need to check the "Server requires authentication" option and specify your user name and password.
First, Advanced Network Monitor tries to connect to the POP3 server. If a connection is established then the program tries to do a handshake. If "Server requires authentication" option is checked the program tries to logon to the POP3 server. If all the steps are completed successfully the server is marked as "Success", otherwise it is marked as "Error".
