IMAP
Standard protocol for accessing messages over the internet, using SMTP to communicate between client and server. Similar to POP, with additional features such as server search and selective download, and better suited for secure message access from a variety of locations.
Advanced Network Monitor allows you to monitor IMAP mail servers.
You need to enter the following parameters:
Server address - Address of the IMAP server. It may be a domain name, URL or IP address. If you enter an IP address Advanced Network Monitor will try to resolve it.
Port - Port of the IMAP server. The default TCP/IP port for the IMAP protocol is port 143.
If the IMAP server requires authentication you need to check the "Server requires authentication" option and specify your user name and password.
First, Advanced Network Monitor tries to connect to the IMAP server. If a connection is established then the program tries to do a handshake. If "Server requires authentication" option is checked the program tries to logon to the IMAP server. If all the steps are completed successfully the server is marked as "Success", otherwise it is marked as "Error".
