DNS

The domain name system (DNS) is an Internet service that translates domain names  into IP addresses.

Advanced Network Monitor allows you to monitor DNS servers.

You need to enter the following parameters.
  • DNS server - IP address of the DNS server;
  • Server to resolve - the server name the DNS name must resolve.
  • Server will be - check on this control to allow checking of resolved IP address

    Advanced Network Monitor tries to connect to a DNS server and resolve the server name you entered. If the server name is resolved correctly then the DNS server is marked as a "Success". If the DNS server cannot resolve the server name it is marked as an "Error".

    Advanced Network Monitor will compare resolved IP address with the target IP if the Server will be checkbox is checked. The server state will be switched to the UP or Down state (depending on server settings) if resolved IP is Equal or Not Equal to the target IP.
