Event Log

Advanced Network Monitor can scan Windows Event logs on any network computer to find the specified event log record with the certain event source, category, ID or the event log record with the description that contains one or more certain strings. If the required event log record is found Advanced Network Monitor can notify the System Administrator. Also, you can set the mode when the System Administrator is notified if the required event log record is not found.

You need to enter the following parameters:
  • Computer - Enter computer name;
  • Log - Log file to be checked. Choose the appropriate log file, for instance: 'Application', 'Security', 'System', or server-related log (like DNS, Exchange, etc.);
  • Event source - Filter event log records that match this Event source;
  • Category- Filter event log records that match this Event category;
  • ID - Filter event log records that match this Event ID;
  • Event type - Filter event log records that match this Event type;
  • Monitor Description - Filter events that match the description string in the Event Description;

    Advanced Network Monitor tries to retrieve a set of log records from the computer you specified. Then it scan them to find the record that meets the filter conditions you entered. If the "Server is down if event occurred" option is checked and Advanced Network Monitor found the corresponding log event then the program marks the server as "Error". If the "Server is down if event occurred" option is not checked and Advanced Network Monitor did  not find the corresponding log event then the program also marks the server as "Error". Otherwise the server is marked as "Success".
