About Us

URL Toy Software had four products (Advanced Flash Synchronizer, Advanced SmartCheck, Personal SmartCheck, and URL Capture) that solved some of the major computing problems that rocked the 1990s and 2000s. It was sad that the authors couldn’t keep up with windows upgrades and upgrades to several associated software which forced the development of the software to come to an abrupt end. The current website is more of a tribute to the software that once formed a part of our day to day life.

Advanced Flash Synchronizer

Advanced Flash Synchronizer (AFS) came at a time when backing up file was a serious problem because of the low memory capacity of most of the available external hard drives. Backing up file became paramount for the fear of losing valuable information in the event of hard drive failure – and this was a regular phenomenon in the 1990s and 200s.

Advanced Flash Synchronizer made it possible to synchronize files between two unconnected computers by making use of USB Flash drive. To ensure that USB flash drive with a memory as low as 64 MB accomplishes the synchronization of large files, Advanced Flash Synchronizer selectively copies only files that have been modified since the last synchronization session

Advanced SmartCheck and Personal SmartCheck

The problem of loss of valuable data to sudden hard drive failure was finally quelled with the development of Advanced SmartCheck and Personal SmartCheck. Although the two softwares are related in function, they still share their subtle differences. Advanced SmartCheck could be deployed to a network computer where it monitors the S.M.A.R.T attributes of the connected hard drives and sends the report to the Network Administrator through email.

The Personal SmartCheck, on the other hand, can be used on a single computer. Unlike the Advanced SmartCheck, the details of hard drive temperature and T.E.C. analysis is displayed directly to the user. Both softwares are able to predict when the hardware would crash so that the user will be able to back up their files before the date

URL Capture

The URL Capture was invaluable for those working in public places. It allowed the user to easily organize their web addresses as well as solved the problem where you find yourself in the awkward situation of remembering all your web addresses. It also helped the user to easily and quickly close web addresses that they don’t want other users to see.

URL Capture remains relevant to this present day because it also helps the user to block unwanted websites. Parents who don’t want their children to be viewing pornographic materials can use this software to block these websites.

The Future

Even though the development of these softwares has stopped, we believe that the ideas are still valuable to deal with some of the burning computing problems facing our age. We hope someone out there finds the ideas behind these products viable and launches a new wave of softwares that solves similar problems. We also hope the knowledge of these softwares would help those facing similar challenges to look for alternatives knowing that there is a solution out there.
